Organized by the GERMUN Club, this conference brings together around 300 students from Morocco and abroad. It aims to discuss peace in Arabic, Spanish, French and English through simulations within committees representing international organizations such as the Arab League, the United Nations, the Ibero-American Summit, and the African Union.
Speaking on this occasion, Speaker of Morocco's House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, emphasized the need to reflect on the future of the world in the face of artificial intelligence challenges, highlighting the role of youth in raising awareness about issues impacting the future of humanity.
After addressing issues related to climate change, pharmaceutical security, and the rise of far-right movements, Talbi Alami urged students to actively engage in debates around these themes.
Talbi Alami, who reviewed the democratic process Morocco has undergone since independence, also encouraged young people to uphold the human values of freedom and democracy, reaffirming Morocco's consistent position in favor of peace and conflict resolution.
For his part, the Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, stressed the importance for students to take the time to analyze, understand, and identify the root causes of problems while considering the cultural dimension of conflict origins.
He also called for building lasting relationships based on the cultural, historical, and identity ties that connect African nations, noting that "climate change, demographic transitions, and AI are part of this new reality that tomorrow's diplomacy must fully embrace."
In this regard, Bensaid noted that these future challenges also represent opportunities to invent new solutions, adding that "it is up to young people from civil society to develop, through dialogue, the solutions of tomorrow."
For her part, the President of the GERMUN Club, Safia Abahaj, stated that this event is not just a simple UN simulation but an opportunity for everyone to understand the challenges of the contemporary world and contribute to creating innovative solutions to urgent issues through constructive dialogue and negotiations.
Abahaj emphasized that this simulation will allow participants to demonstrate their communication skills and their ability to persuade and interact with different viewpoints to achieve a common goal and strengthen the values of tolerance and dialogue.
