On this occasion, the two parties welcomed the excellent ties of cooperation between Morocco and France in transport and logistics, while hailing the “new momentum” in these ties, through the signing, in October, of the “reinforced exceptional partnership” Declaration between the two countries by His Majesty King Mohammed VI and French President, Emmanuel Macron, marked by the conclusion of four agreements in rail transport.
The two sides also discussed ways of promoting bilateral cooperation, notably in the rail sector, and examined the possibility of strengthening air connectivity between the two countries and implementing bilateral agreements aiming to improve service quality in all modes of transport.
In the same vein, the two ministers called for mutual support for the candidacies relating to the forthcoming deadlines of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for maritime transport and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for air transport.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss a number of subjects of common interest, such as the holding of the Joint Commission on International Road Transport to examine ways of facilitating the granting of authorizations, in addition to consolidating the exchange of experience in the field of merchant shipping and the decarbonization of maritime transport, for the creation of green maritime corridors.
The two parties also discussed road safety issues in both countries, and the expected resolutions to be debated by the various stakeholders at the 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety.
In a statement to the press following the meeting, Tabarot highlighted the age-old ties between the two brotherly countries, underlining that the meeting was an opportunity to discuss subjects of common interest in order to “collaborate intelligently in the interests of our two Nations,” he said.
He expressed the commitment and determination of both parties to develop this partnership, elevated to the highest level of the State by His Majesty King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron, in various fields, notably in mobility issues, through rail, sea and air transport, in the interests of both countries.
For his part, Kayouh highlighted the excellent ties between Morocco and Force, noting that this meeting provided an opportunity to delve into bilateral cooperation in fields “closely monitored” by the heads of State of the two countries, notably in the fields of railways, with the high-speed rail project and its extension between Rabat and Marrakech, air transport and slot exchanges between Royal Air Maroc and Air France, as well as goods transport and mobility in general.
