Organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union in partnership with the United Nations, this meeting is held under the theme "Scaling Up Action for the Sustainable Development Goals: Financing, Institutions, and Policy," according to a press release from the Parliament.
Over two days, this international parliamentary session will feature contributions from experts, UN officials, diplomats, researchers, and academics specializing in sustainable development.
This event provides participants with the opportunity to discuss and exchange views on the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and its objectives, which serve as a global roadmap for combating poverty and reducing inequality. A key focus will be on mechanisms to boost political will, reach a consensus on major policy recommendations, and strengthen institutional capacities to engage all stakeholders, particularly parliaments.
Additionally, the hearings will explore ways to bridge the financing gap for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ahead of the 4th United Nations Conference on Financing for Development, scheduled for June in Spain.
